SPACE HUB

"Working with Space Hub has been a delight! Thanks to Space Hub, I've been involved with awesome local projects that I wouldn't have known how to access otherwise. I can't tell you how proud I am to currently have two pieces of art on display on different ends of Karangahape Road. It's also been so cool getting to meet some of the Space Hub team (Meela and Karl!) and getting to know the lovely people behind the projects. Being able to exhibit my work has been really exciting artistically, but it's also done wonders for my creative self esteem. It's hard as a digital illustrator to feel like a "real" artist sometimes when the majority of your work only exists online, so the opportunities given to me by Space Hub to put my artwork into real physical spaces has been really validating. Plus, Karangahape Road is one of my favourite places in Auckland, so being able to walk past my own artwork regularly is a really surreal experience. I had a mini launch party with a few friends of mine for my recent pop-up exhibition, "Advice from worms"! We all gathered on the street corner to look at my work and take a few pictures outside the gallery (and eat some theme-appropriate snacks - gummy worms), and then went to the pub for some drinks. It's been a dream of mine to exhibit my art publically and throw a launch party, and having my friends gather on one of my favourite streets to see my silly art was a really lovely feeling."
